Welcome To Spencerville
A Bright Future from A Proud Past!
Dear Visitor,

As President, It is my distinct privilege to welcome you to the Spencerville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Website.
Spencerville is a community of diverse individuals who live and work well together. We like to boast, that for such
a small community of a little more than 2000 residents, our Chamber membership totals right at 80, with the
majority of those members being active and involved in the daily business of making this community thrive.

The Chamber, as a non-profit entity, is organized for the sole purpose of advancing the economic, industrial,
professional, cultural and civic welfare of the community; to encourage the growth of existing industries and
businesses while giving all proper assistance to any new firms or individuals seeking to locate in this village; to
support all these activities believed to be beneficial to the community and the area; to oppose those which might
be detrimental. And, in general, to promote the welfare of all area citizens, following always the greatest good for
the greatest number. Any reputable person, association, business firm, corporation, partnership or estate having an
interest in our objectives, are eligible for Chamber membership.

Over time, new committees or arms of the Chamber have been formed, which ultimately breathed new life into
the organization itself, and the community as a whole. More often than not, these arms have been developed out
of necessity or need. The perfect example is the Economic Development Steering Committee which was formed
by a group of concerned, caring community leaders who refused to sit by and allow tough economic times to play
total havoc on this place that we all call home. And to show just how serious this committee was, they took
economic development one step further and formed the Spencerville Community Improvement Corporation (CIC).

The (CIC) operates in accordance with Chapter 1724 of the Ohio Revised Code and has been organized as a tax-
exempt entity for the sole purpose of advancing, encouraging and promoting the industrial, economic,
commercial, and research development of our village and surrounding community. The mission of the CIC is to
retain, expand and attract capital investment and jobs to the greater Spencerville Community, bounded by the
Spencerville School District. The CIC promotes the use of private, local, state and federal financial assistance, tax
incentives and technical training assistance programs in order to fulfill their mission. Being non-profit, this
corporation has a lot more flexibility than does the village municipality, when dealing with certain legal issues
facing the community. The CIC Board of Trustees, and the Chamber Executive Committee, embraces the
responsibility and the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of the people who live and work here.
